Table Tennis is a fast-paced racket sport where two or four players hit a lightweight ball back and forth across a small table divided by a net. The objective is to score points by making the ball bounce on the opponent’s side without them successfully returning it.
Table Layout:
The game is played on a rectangular table measuring 2.74 meters long and 1.525 meters wide, with a net running across the middle.
Gameplay Basics:
Starting Play: A player serves the ball by tossing it up and striking it so it bounces once on their side, crosses the net, and bounces on the opponent’s side.
Rally: Players take turns hitting the ball, aiming to make it difficult for the opponent to return.
Scoring: Points are won when the opponent fails to return the ball, hits it outside the table, or commits a fault during service. Games are played to 11 points, with players needing to win by at least two points. Matches are typically best-of-five or best-of-seven games.
Service Rotation: Players alternate serving every two points until the game ends, except during deuce (10-10), where the serve alternates every point.
Table Tennis requires quick reflexes, precise control, and tactical shot placement to outmaneuver opponents.
