Volleyball is a team sport where two teams of six players each compete to score points by sending a ball over a net and into the opposing team’s court. The main goal is to ground the ball on the opponent’s side while preventing it from touching your own court.
Court Layout:
The game is played on a rectangular court divided by a net, with each team occupying one half.
Gameplay Basics:
Starting Play: A player serves the ball from behind the baseline to start each rally.
Rally: Teams hit the ball back and forth, using up to three touches per side to return it over the net.
Scoring: Points are scored when the ball lands in the opponent’s court, or if the opposing team commits a fault (like hitting the ball out of bounds or failing to return it).
Sets and Matches: Matches are played as best-of-five sets. Each set is played to 25 points, but a team must win by at least two points. If a fifth set is needed, it is played to 15 points.
Rotation: After winning a serve back from the opponents, players rotate positions clockwise to serve next.
Volleyball emphasizes teamwork, quick reflexes, and strategic play to control the ball and outscore the opponent.
